Minutes ======= BOB collaboration phone conference 2016 Avril 12 Participants: Norberto Castro, Swetlana Hubrig, Silva Jarvinen, Norbert Langer, Thierry Morel, Norbert Przybilla The minutes were prepared by Thierry. The order below does not necessarily reflect the order in which topics were discussed. === Targets for June run --------------------- Silva and Swetlana have begun working on the list of targets. Potential targets include some magnetosphere candidates from the APOGEE survey. May also be worth re-observing CPD -24 6168 (peculiar spectrum). NorbertP: He-rich stars should have high priority. Action on NorbertP: check that list of He-rich stars assembled some time ago is complete. Need to discuss target list in detail during next telecon on May 30. Action on Swetlana and Silva: circulate a preliminary list of targets around mid May. Action on Thierry: request ideas for additional targets from all BOB members. Status of papers in preparation: ------------------------------- - Second FORS2 survey paper led by Markus: Revised version following comments from co-authors to be circulated soon. - Paper on BD -12 4982 led by Silva: Plans to have a specific paper combining FORS and HARPS measurements. However, observations with HARPS during June run necessary to confirm field detection. Swetlana: 'The idea is to get at least one or two additional observations now in June. The point to observe this star is the strong X-ray emission which people expect to come from the O-type supergiant. We can now show (in a Research Note or in A&A Letter) that the culprit is a low-mass star located very close to this O-type star. We do not know yet whether it is a physical system or not, but the additional observations will prove this.' Because of faintness of targets (V~9.2), whether or not further observations are worthwhile should be discussed among the builders. - Second paper on CPD -57 3509 led by NorbertP: Other priorities lately and no significant progress since last telecon. Will resume work on paper soon. Action on NorbertP: check status of photometric monitoring. - Trifid paper led by Federico: Still work on spectral analysis ongoing. Analysis difficult and some problems encountered (e.g., some lines not well reproduced): improvement still needed. Action on Maria-Fernanda: send a brief update to people involved in paper. - Paper on CPD -62 2124 led by Norberto: Other priorities lately and no significant progress since last telecon. Will resume work on paper soon. Action on Norberto: discuss issues about field measurements (line lists, etc.) with Thorsten. - Paper on HD 168785 led by Maryline: In principle, all data needed have been made available to Maryline. NorbertP: interesting target (very He rich, close to TAMS, evidence for mixing, ...) Action on NorbertP and/or Maria-Fernanda: send text describing spectral analysis to be incorporated in manuscript to Maryline. Action on Maryline: send a brief update to people involved in paper and request missing measurements if needed. - Paper on magnetic analysis of the O-stars sample: Norberto has other priorities and is eventually unable to lead paper. Leadership taken over by Silva with possible involvement from Adriane Liermann (IAP) who has expertise with modelling of stars with strong winds (PoWR). Action on Silva: confirm involvement of Adriane to Thierry to start enrolment procedures (agreement about code of conduct, access to private webpage, ...). - Paper on magnetic and atmospheric analysis of the He-strong stars led by Maria-Fernanda: Analysis likely close to completion (TBC). Action on Maria-Fernanda: send a brief update to people involved in paper and request missing measurements if needed. Meetings -------- - NZstars2016: Still early for submitting abstract(s): waiting that final list of invited talks is made publicly available. However, contributed talk given by Markus (TBC) describing the project likely. Still unclear if other people from the collaboration plan to present contributions making use of BOB data. - 'Understanding the roles of rotation, pulsation and chemical peculiarities in the upper main sequence' (11-16/9/2016, Lake District, UK; http://www.star.uclan.ac.uk/stars2016/): Swetlana: will attend and may present some results of BOB measurements for pulsating B-type stars. ===
