BOB collaboration phone conference

The minutes were prepared by Thierry. The order below does not necessarily reflect the order in which topics were discussed.

Strategy for publication of HARPS data:

Following scheme agreed:
 - Norberto + Silva (et al.): Magnetic analysis of the O-stars sample
 - Silva + Norberto (et al.): Magnetic analysis of the B-stars sample excluding He-strong stars
 - Maria-Fernanda + NorbertP + Norberto + Silva (et al.): Magnetic and atmospheric analysis of the He-strong stars

However, Norberto moving to a new position and concerns about time availability for leading O-star paper. If impossible, somebody else (TBD) should take over.
Preliminary analysis by Maria-Fernanda suggests that all He-rich stars have very similar parameters (akin to those of CPD -57 3509). 
Maria-Fernanda can check exact classification for stars in between the O and B spectral types.

Papers should include data from the last run in June in order to discuss the complete sample: drafts should ideally be circulated soon thereafter.

Last run in June with HARPS:

 - Swetlana proposed to monitor one target (binary and X-ray strong B0-O9 supergiant in open cluster). Target quite faint (V~9.2): to be decided whether monitoring worthwhile and not too time consuming. Objective: specific paper.

 - Other targets to be selected later on. Possibility to organise a dedicated telecon if needed.

Status of articles:

- second FORS2 survey paper led by Markus:
  Other priorities lately and little progress over the last few months. Will resume work on paper soon. 

- paper led by Norberto on CPD -62 2124:
  Atmospheric parameters available from NorbertP/Maria-Fernanda.
  Bonn/Potsdam magnetic results do not agree well: still discussion needed.
  First draft to be circulated in February/March.

- second paper led by NorbertP on CPD -57 3509:
  FORS2 data reduced by Potsdam group: agreed that I. Ilyin will perform a period search.
  UVES data reduced by ESO pipeline (also used by Potsdam group) in archives: spectra readily available.
  NorbertP: time variation of parameters can be investigated but time consuming.
  Work on paper by NorbertP can only start after beginning February because of teaching duties.

- paper led by Maryline on HD 168785:
  Quite strong field from Potsdam analysis: ~1 kG.
  Attempts to detect short-term variations due to pulsations unsuccessful. 
  However, significant variations of the He lines in antiphase with the field measurements from one night to the next: probably arising from the rotational modulation of spots (only two nights covered, though, so little information available).
  Maria-Fernanda: determination of parameters of HD 168785 top priority. 
  Draft in progress. Objective: submission in Spring.

- paper led by Federico on Trifid triple system:
  Maria-Fernanda tried disentangling, but it proved unsuccessful. Eventually fitted composite spectrum: final parameters provided to Federico.
  Potsdam group still improving magnetic field results. Should be available in March.
  All data in near-final form already available, but status of paper unclear. Must be circulated soon.

- Wrap-up paper presenting the survey (similarly to what was done by MiMeS; arXiv:1511.08425) and a full interpretation of the results (incidence rate, etc.).

Other issues:

- Efforts needed to increase visibility of BOB: presentation at conferences, etc.

- Nearly all data collected and time to think about interpretation: involvement needed from other BOB members to carry out more theory-oriented studies. NorbertL: probably still too early.

Action Items:

 - Ilya to provide results of period search on FORS2 data of CPD -57 3509 to NorbertP.

 - Maria-Fernanda to contact Luca and Silva to get the missing magnetic measurements for three He-rich stars.

 - Swetlana to send details on the target and science case for observations during last run of supergiant in binary system. 

 - Norberto and Thorsten to discuss issues about field measurements of CPD -62 2124 (line lists, etc.).

 - NorbertP to check status of photometric monitoring of CPD -57 3509.

 - Maria-Fernanda and Maryline to decide in which paper (Maryline's or Maria-Fernanda's paper about He-strong stars) to present spectroscopic analysis of HD 168785.
   Norberto to send to Maryline the Bonn magnetic measurements of HD 168785.
   Maryline to give details to the Innsbruck group about the spectra of HD 168785 available (S/N, wavelength coverage, ...).

 - Thierry to contact Federico for status of Trifid paper.

 - Potsdam group to send final field measurements of Trifid system to Federico.
